Legal Advice

People who need legal advice can find contact information for different legal services and centres in Australia..There are  four major parts of legal sevice including women's legal services, Aboriginal legal services, legal aid commission and community legal centres.
Women's Legal Services NSW is to give a voice to women and provide legal services, law reformation and community legal advice. Free legal advice is available over their general advice line: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm. Free interview or face to face legal advice may be found also. There is also a contact Line.for Aboriginal Women's Legal service. This a criminal law practice which provides advice for aboriginal adults and young people.
Legal Aid Commission is a legal aid youth hotline for juvenile justice, or a criminal offence.
The hotline operates from 9qm to midnight Monday to Friday and 24/7 for weekends and public holidays.
Community Legal Centres gives free legal advice, advocacy to residents in Sydney inner city, north shore and eastern suburb. Community Legal Centres also include the following services:
 Public Interest Advocacy Centre, which deals with ‘Public interest matters’ which affect the individual or small groups.
Consumer Credit Legal Centre provides free financial counselling, information, referral and legal advice to individual consumers in NSW on credit, banking and insurance issues. It also operates a credit and debit hotline and insurance law service.
Refugee Advice Provides free legal/immigration advice to refugees and asylum seekers seeking protection in Australia.
Other groups offering community legal sevices are Welfare Rights Centre (NSW), Intellectual Disability Rights Service and Criminal Justice Support Network, National Children's and Youth Law Centre , HIV/AIDS Legal Centre (NSW),Arts Law Centre of Australia,Homeless Persons' Legal Service (HPLS). Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela achievement

 . Mandela himself was educated at University College of Fort Hare and the University of Witwatersrand and qualified in law in 1942

. 1961, the ANC executive considered his proposal on the use of violent tactics and agreed that those members who wished to involve themselves in Mandela's campaign would not be stopped from doing so by the ANC.This led to the formation of Umkhonto we Siz.

  In 1991, at the first national conference of the ANC held inside South Africa after the organization had been banned in 1960, Mandela was elected President

The Nobel Peace Prize 1993 was awarded jointly to Nelson Mandela and Frederik Willem de Klerk.

1994, Mandela was elected President of South Africa.

1918 - was born in South Africa.
1942 - was educated in university and get qualified in law.
1944 -joined the African National Congress.
1948 -against apartheid policies
1956 -trial
1961 -was acquitted
1962 -was arrested and sentenced to five years' imprisonment
1964-1982 -in gaol
1990 -was released
1991 - elected President of the ANC.
1993 - got Nobel Peace Prize.
1994 - the first President of South Africa

·       What is obesity?

It is having too much fat on the body.

·         What are the reasons for obesity in children?
There are many reasons for obesity including eating too much junk food, not doing enough exercise, playing on computer all day, watching TV, parents are overweight as well and passing on unhealthy lifestyle to children, as well as genetics.

·         Is obesity only a national problem?
No, obesity is not a national problem. It is a worldwide problem.

·         What do statistics show?
From 1985 to 1995 the number of obese 7–15 year olds almost doubled. Overweight children have more than tripled over the last century. It is predicted that 65 per cent of young Australians will be overweight or obese by 2020.

·         What is making the obesity problem worse?
There have been a lot of changes in society which is contributing to a  more obese society. The problems with society are people is eating more or doing less exercise.  The following are reasons why this has happened: food is less expensive, more takeaway food and amount of food you can buy has increased. There are a lot more marketing of food and drink that is high energy. Less activity because of more cars, people work more and so spend less time outside. Exercise in school has also decreased.

·         Does obesity have an impact on children's health?
Yes, it does.

·         If yes, explain how?
Obesity can have an effect on children is they are more likely to remain obese as adolescents and become overweight or obese as adults. About 80 per cent of obese adolescents may become diabetics, or have heart attack when they are adult.
What are the other impacts caused by obesity in children?
Obesity can affect how children feel about themselves and how they get along with others. They are more likely to have low self-esteem, which may affect aspects of their lives such as making friend and doing well at school.

·         What is the treatment?
Patients can see their general  practitioner, and they can change lifestyle and eat healthy food.
